Amazing Food and Drink

Welcome To...

The Anvil

For a daytime tearoom, the menu is superb – only improved by the fact that virtually all the dishes are gluten free. For those with coeliac disease and other wheat aversions, The Anvil is a welcome break from the massive restrictions of ordinary eating out. As one of the very few gluten free eateries in Hampshire, it is worth the visit alone just to try Fred’s World Famous Bread and Butter Pudding.

From the Navarin of Lamb to Luxury Fish Pie, all the main courses are genuinely home made. There are also pizzas, pasta dishes and a wide array of organic and vegetarian items. Fred’s old navy favourites include ‘Cheesy Hammy Eggy’ - and you’ve guessed it, there is the option of gluten free bread. For something sweeter, the highly acclaimed Movenpick Swiss Ice Cream is popular, as well as the vitamin rich milk shakes made with gluten free ice cream.

To the rear of the premises sit the illustrious wine racks. Just in Case offers a unique atmosphere in which to shop for wines, and a personal, knowledgeable service. With many sought after wines and spirits, it is worth asking for that rare bottle that you had been hard pushed to locate. You can even make an event of wine browsing with a break for a light snack, or even just a coffee – all of which are royally warranted.

With its inviting courtyard, The Anvil Tearooms and Just in Case wine merchants is even more appealing during the warmer months. Accessible with ample parking, customers are offered a unique blend of specialist foods, fine wines and architectural brilliance.
